Highlight of the trip: A visit to the demilitarized zone

Before entering Panmunjom (aka the JSA) all visitors are required to sign a waiver. Basically, you say you don’t mind getting killed as theoretically either side can open fire at any time. Here’s what the waiver looks like

02-DMZ Declaration

It is not allowed to take pictures of the South Korean side, if you are on the South Korean side and vice versa if you’re visiting from North Korea

Big Brother North Korean soldier watching. The only North Korean I got to see during the trip

Stepping across the North Korean border. This concrete slab is the actual border line

Funny, my shirt was the same color as the kids from some US bible school

Two steps across the border. I am in North Korea!

Interesting gas station

The famous Banpo Bridge. They’re supposed to have fountain shows at 8 and 9 pm. I came there two nights in a row, the bloody thing never went off, one night due to strong winds, the other because of rain. This bridge was one of the reasons, I went to Seoul in the first place! That sucked big time.

The War Memorial of Korea – one of the most impressive and technologically advanced museums I’ve seen so far.

And, of course, enjoy the Gangnam style 🙂
