Kuala Lumpur

On my annual RTW trips I usually take Signapore airlines from Australia to South Arfica, sometimes with a stopover in Singapore. In 2014 I decided to explore Kuala Lumpur. The easiest way to get from SIN to KUL is by bus (Star Qistna in my case), very comfortable!

I got off the bus in Chinatown and  wandered around for half hour looking for my hotel, which was right in the middle of the famous Petaling street

Somebody knocked down a sign and left a bumper, and that happened to be exactly the street I was looking for!

This is how we spell “taxi” now

From my ignorant point of view, the Malaysian language (or at least part of it) looks like simplified English. Here’s some Malay 101 for you:

Taxi = Teksi

Bus = Bas

School bus = Bas Sekolah

Central = Sentral

Commuter = Komuter

Cable = Kabel

Clinic = Klinik

Restaurant = Restoran

Textile = Tekstil

Water = air (really?)

Air = udara (I guess it’s just one of those one-off words 🙂
